Ground Technician

We are always looking for Ground Technicians that have a great attitude and solid work ethic to join our team. This is an entry level position and the best way to get started in tree care. Our work ranges from dormancy pruning, to large scale removals of massive trees using cranes; from palm trees at sea level to remote estates nestled high up in remote canyons. We also do a lot of technical pruning to improve the health of trees, or to make the most of a view, and when mother nature’s wrath brings a tree down on someone’s home, we are ready and able to take care of any tree care needs.

What You'll Be Doing

Assisting the arborist with Ground Operations
Loading brush and cleaning up the job sites
Working as a part of a team to create a safe work environment while maintaining a high level of production
Utilizing specialized machinery such as chippers, skid steers, advanced rigging equipment, and grapple truck
Operating hand equipment including but not limited to chainsaws, rakes and blowers
Maintaining a high level of quality in all work performed
Removing limbs and debris to the disposal area (this includes raking and basic yard cleanup)
Performing daily inspections of equipment and vehicles
Choosing and inspecting personal protective equipment
Choosing and loading necessary daily equipment
Driving specialized trucks to various work sites around the valley
Ensuring all tools, equipment, and materials are well maintained and accounted for prior to and after completion of each job
Inspecting worksites and identifying risks
Directing vehicle and pedestrian traffic
Completing all duties in compliance with AMTL safety policies, ANSI Z133.1, OSHA safety standards, and ANSI A300 Pruning standards

Where You Will Work

You will perform services for a wide variety of clients in diverse locations from private gardens and backyards, to public spaces, or remote areas
The majority of work time is spent in the field operating machinery or hand tools, performing PHC/arboricultural services, clean-up, and being courteous to customers.
Some of your time will be spent indoors to complete paperwork, and attend meetings and trainings

What You Need To Bring To The Table

A strong work ethic, positive attitude, humility, personal integrity, and desire to grow personally and professionally
Physical fitness and ability to work outside at all times in all weather conditions are required. Duty modifications may be made during specific seasons throughout the year.
Ability to lift 50 lbs.
Communication skills
Safe work habits
Multitasking skills
Ability to work well with others
Valid Drivers license and clean driving record
Must be a legal citizen or allowed to work in the US

The following is preferred but not required:
Experience operating machinery and equipment such as wood chippers and stump grinders
Bilingual speaking in English and Spanish

ISA Certified Arborist

To earn an ISA Certified Arborist credential, you must be trained and knowledgeable in all aspects of arboriculture – as accredited by the American National Standards Institute, meeting and exceeding ISO 17024. You must also adhere to the ISA Code of Ethics.
